Salvation's New Recruit- Part 4 of the Day in the Life Series

Don't vote in the poll until you read. Your votes will have real consequences to this story, to the point of ending it early. Choose wisely AFTER you read.

For some reason I am unable to edit these posts anymore, I copy and paste in the text from Word so I stand a better chance of crafting something intelligible, but I do apologize if certain grammar mistakes are made. I write these in such a way that while it might not be awesome prose, it'll at least give you the gritty feel you should have when these characters talk or do things.

If you are new to the series and need to play catch up, here you go:
    Part 1
    Part 2
    Part 3

I'm also trying something new with this one. Read till the end to find out what the poll is in reference to. The Author's Note after will explain more but it's pretty self explanatory.

    Salvation's New Recruit- Part 4

    “Please! Don’t kill me!”

Deez grabbed the small man in the lab coat off the ground. The doctor’s leg was still bleeding from the round I had pumped into it. Deez lifted the man high into the air and slammed him against the wall.

“Who the **** are you and where the **** are my pants?” demanded Deez.

“Uh…” I said, staring at Deez.

The doctor was peeing his pants. Deez hurled the man clear across the room. He hit the opposite wall and crumpled to the ground in a whimpering heap.

“Holy shit!” exclaimed Deez as he looked back towards me. His eyes were bloodshot and his pupils were glowing a dark red that faded as soon as he blinked.

“What the ****?” said Deez, looking down at his palms.

“Deez,” I had finally found my voice, “Deez how are you alive? I saw you die.”

Deez’s gaze shot up from his from his palms with a bewildered look on his, “What do you mean ‘I saw you die?’ I ain’t dead goddamnit.”

“I mean I saw your face get caved in by a bullet and you died. How the **** are you alive?”

The scowl on Deez’s face deepened as he strode over to the doctor who was still slumped on the floor, “Please, please don’t kill me,” he whimpered.

Deez hauled him up off the floor by his collar with one hand.

“You have ten seconds to tell me what you crazy mother****ers did to me,” Deez told the man, getting right in his face. Deez’s eyes were a faint glow of red.

“It was my job!” The man screamed out of fright, “We’ve been working on perfecting this process for years! We didn’t know what the side effects were, we still don’t! You shouldn’t have woken up!” Deez kneed the man in the gut.

“Start making sense or I swear-” said Deez.

“I… I was only doing my job. I’m already dead. I’m sorry,” the man opened his hand and a small silver disk with a blinking light dropped out of it.

As the disk clattered to the ground a hidden panel slid back on the wall behind me. I whirled around drawing my pistol again and was face to face with a guard twice the size of the ones I had fought all day. His arms and legs were massive, stretching his uniform to bursting. His muscles rippled as he leveled an M60 machine gun on my face.

The doctor came sailing through the air, crashing into the massive guard, knocking him to the ground. Deez was on top of him in an instant wrestling the machine gun away.

“That’s my gun you piece of shit!” Deez shouted and with one final massive tug, ripped the weapon away from the guard. Flipping it around while still standing on the guard’s massive chest Deez squeezed and held the trigger.

The sound was deafening. Five, ten, twenty, forty rounds were cycled through the weapon into the guard’s chest. All the while, the guard was still gripped Deez’s legs trying to pull him off balance.

Finally the grip loosened and the guard was dead. Blood was spattered all over Deez and the wall. My ears were still ringing from the gunfire.

Throwing the M60 to the side, Deez descended on the monster that had just attacked us and tore off its helmet.

His own face, though distorted by larger than possible muscles, was looking back at him.

“What the ****…?” Deez let the helmet fall from his hands as the revelation hit me.

“Clones. All the guards are clones.”

    Author's Note:
Some of you will notice this one was much shorter than the previous installments and there is a reason for that. I'm a huge fan of feedback and giving people what they want (bloodlust?) and so from here on out there will be some parts that I let you all choose what happens. If you were following the story, the doctor is still alive, and I am letting you the reader decide what happens to him. Choose wisely. If you kill him, you may never find out what is really happening in Salvation, but if you let him live he may find a way to kill one of the characters or completely end the story all together. Depends where my mind goes with your responses.
